Susan grew up in New Mexico with extended time spent in Europe, which instilled a deep appreciation for the arts and architecture in all forms. Through these early inspirations her desire to be an artist was solidified. After graduating from The Colorado Institute of Art with a degree in Illustration, Susan began her career designing sports memorabilia. Through a series of creative opportunities, she eventually found her way into Interior Design where her love for architecture and the arts finally met. After many years in the practice of turning clients’ houses into a home, Susan now works full time as a fine art oil painter.

Artist Statement

I am fascinated by stories. Through my work as an Interior Designer I enjoyed helping people express and tell their own stories in their most intimate space - their home. Deeply inspired by the objects and beauty of everyday life, I gravitate to still life painting. I work in scales where my art can fit in the home in intimate ways; filling spaces with quiet moments which showcase something deeply personal to the individual. Influenced by the old masters I focus on objects that tell my own story of growing up in the American Southwest and my formative years spent exploring the magical old world of Europe.
